Kingscote Wine Estate

Updated: Mar 31, 2020

What a find! Hidden in the Kingscote Valley just outside of East Grinstead is the Kingscote Wine Estate. The Estate with over 150 acres with fishing lake, paddocks, vineyards and apple orchards I really was impressed with this secret I had discovered!

The reason I hunted this place down was to meet Jethro Carr of Kitchen Academy and see the beautiful Tithe Barn cookery school. It was worth the visit with a professionally equipped kitchen, seating for 120 in the barn and flexible prep stations it is the perfect location for your food event! I did have ‘kitchen envy’ with all the Magimix appliances and every window you look out of another beautiful view!

A few years ago I travelled on the Bluebell Railway from Sheffield Park and understand at least once a day the steam train passes by, how idyllic!

I also tasted some delicious wines my favourite being a chilled white called ‘Fat Fume, 2014’ a unique and delicious lightly oaked English Bacchus and am writing this while sipping the sparkling ‘cyder’ which I mistook for a sparkling wine or Prosecco! Too good to be a cider! Speaking of sparkling wine their first batch is being labelled and named as I write.  Cannot wait for another excuse to go back and this sparkling wine tasting may be it!

I would highly recommend a visit, samplying some great wines or to attend a class. Watch this space I would like to do some ‘pairing’ events in that Tithe Barn later this year.
